It has been surprising how far video games have come. With all the success the video game industry has been getting the past recent years, let’s re-visit how it all began.

The first video games

In 1958, Physicist William Hinginbotham created what can be considered as the first video game. It was a simple tennis game on a large, analog controller. Then in 1962, Steve Russell developed “Spacewar”, the first video game that could be played on multiple computers. This was then released in arcade version in 1971, becoming the first video arcade game in history.

Video games at home – the first consoles

It was in 1972 that the classic Atari was released and 5 years later, they introduced its first cartridge-based home video game system, the Atari 2600. This paved way to multitude of gaming console companies, which unfortunately led to North American gaming industry’s demise.

In 1983, A Japanese company called Nintendo saved the gaming industry when they released their Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). This was also the time when legendary games like Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda and Metroid were released.

Innovation in Graphics – the dawn of 3D gaming

With the advance in computer technology, game development has seen significant improvement in terms of designs. This paved the way for 3D game development, which made the whole gaming experience more life-like and immersive.

The modern gaming community – online interaction between players

In 2006, 3 major consoles were released which kicked off modern gaming. Nintendo’s Wii, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s Playstation 3, with its internet-connection capabilities and high-definition games, has been a key timestamp in modern day gaming. These consoles have allowed players connect to the internet and interact with each other, either cooperatively or competitively.

Now, the gaming community has become one of the fastest growing industry, with audience and exponentially growing. Fortnite, arguably the hottest game right now, has a whopping 250 million player count as of this month. With that much potential market, it’s understandable that people have started making business out of selling Fortnite PS4 hack tips.

Due to Fortnite’s popularity, the gaming community received worldwide recognition. Even popular celebrities have started playing and endorsing the game. Numerous videos on cheats Fortnite player can do to stay competitive have started appearing, all because everyone wants to be recognized in the world’s most popular game right now.

There’s no denying, the future of video games is bright. It not just a hobby anymore, it has become a culture for most. At the rate it’s going, there are no signs that video game popularity will slow down anytime soon.
